PURPOSES FOR WHICH
ROCHESTER RADIO REPEATER ASSOCIATION, INC.
WAS FORMED

This organization was formed for the purpose of operating and constructing, where possible, radio repeaters. These repeaters were intended to receive frequency modulated radio signals on one frequency and transmit them on another frequency. Repeaters were used because signals in the very high radio frequencies are transmitted and received only in line of sight.

A repeater that is located on top of a high hill or high building will retransmit a received signal beyond the line of sight and permit licensed radio amateurs to talk to other licensed radio amateurs at a further distance then possible without a repeater.

By organizing, the group could raise enough money to purchase or construct repeaters which can be used only by radio amateurs licensed under the rules of the Federal Communications Commission.
